Applications for License Plate Available Online
06/11/2008
LEXINGTON, KY – A specialty Kentucky license plate may soon be available in celebration of the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games.
In order for these plates to be produced, at least 900 applications and deposits must be submitted to the World Games 2010 Foundation. If 900 applications are not received by September 30, 2008, all applications and fees will be returned.
Kentucky residents interested in purchasing the official license plate of the 2010 Games for $44 should visit www.feigames2010.org to print and complete an application. A deposit check of $28.00 must be mailed with the completed application to the World Games 2010 Foundation. The deposit check will not be cashed until 900 applications are received.
Once 900 applications have been received, the Department of Motor Vehicle Licensing will produce the specialty plate. Production will take approximately 60 days. Individuals will be notified by email when the required number of applications and deposits are received.
Each local county clerk's office will later notify individuals by mail when their official 2010 Games plate is available for pick up. At that time, individuals will pay approximately $16.00. Ten dollars will be given to the World Games 2010 Foundation in support of the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, and the remaining $6.00 will cover local fees.
Annual renewal of the plate will cost approximately $30.00.
Interested individuals should complete the online Specialty Plate application and return it with a check payable to the World Games 2010 Foundation, ATTN: Maggie Daniels, 2010 World Games Way, Lexington, KY 40511-2010. Credit Cards cannot be accepted.
The Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, to be held at the Kentucky Horse Park September 25-October 10, 2010, are the world championships of the eight equestrian disciplines recognized by the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI), and are held every four years. The Games have never before been held outside of Europe; nor have all eight disciplines ever previously been held together at a single site–both firsts that will be achieved at the Kentucky Horse Park. The Games will be broadcast on NBC Sports, which has made the largest network commitment to coverage of equestrian sport in U.S. television history. The 2010 Games are expected to have a statewide economic impact of $150 million, and current sponsors include the Rolex Company and an unprecedented $10 million title sponsor, Alltech. It is anticipated that more than 600,000 tickets will be sold for the 16-day competition.
